Can I safely use any USB charging block with the charging cord that came with my watch series 5 or do I need to use the little charging block that came with the watch?

Also, is it safe to leave the watch on the charger when I'm not wearing it even if it's fully charged?

Mostly yes, to both. The voltage of all USB chargers is the same. The amperage (wattage) varies, and needs to be higher for devices with larger batteries. Since the watch is small, almost any size charger will work. Larger than needed just means the device will charge faster, up to the fastest the device itself will allow itself to be charged (for safety and longevity reasons)

The exception would be the super cheap knock off stuff, mostly from China, mostly found on Amazon. These chargers cut costs by cutting corners, often at the expense of reliability and safety. Don’t use them for anything. Better to spend a couple more dollars than test your fire insurance.
