    Hi there,

I wanted to open a discussion about what Apple Watch users think about news apps on their watch? Do you use them, and if so, what do you think of them? Do they adapt well to the watch? What would you change?

I'm looking for help on a dissertation project so any replies would be really appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Izabella

The Apple Watch would be all right for getting notice of breaking news. If you wanted to read the entire article, you'd want to open the app on the iPhone.

What about receiving news notifications on your watch throughout the day? Would you put in the time to create an individual schedule for types on news stories to be sent to you throughout the day, or would breaking news be the only type of notification you'd want? For example at lunchtime be sent stories surrounding entertainment and in the evening sports scores and daily roundups?

It depends on the features offered in the news app. It's certainly possible. I have a number of apps that send periodic updates to my watch throughout the day.

Absolutely worth it. I'm kept up to date with major news events by receiving them as notifications on my Apple Watch 2 as soon as they happen. This is the 21st century I've been waiting for

What are some of the better apps for Breaking News. I recently turned on twitter notifications for major news outlets. Any other ideas?

It depends where you are and what news agencies you prefer to receive updates from. I get a lot of updates from CNN and RT; both these apps do good notifications to the Apple Watch - and have specific apps that work independently on the AW too. I also use BBC, The Guardian UK and I even have an AW app for Time magazine. There's even one for CNET

Just taken a closer look at the CNET AW app - installed it, but never really played with it. An interesting thing to note on this app, is that any news item that has the word "photos" highlighted in yellow, indicates there's a photo gallery in the article; tap on the displayed picture with a camera icon and also a number indicating how many pictures are in the gallery, and away you go. Quite handy for getting photo previews of some new tech release without pulling your iPhone out of your bag

I agree for me watch has too small display to read the article. I prefer newspaper on the other hand. :)
